Oh the shameless bathroom selfie...
Last weekend still seems like a blur.
I'm not sure if it's that I'm 5 years away from 50 or that I don't spend a lot of time out these days, especially at the bar, but when I heard that we were pub-crawling for my girlfriends stagette, I wasn't sure that I was going to be able to keep up!
Well for the most part, I kept up...I mean, I love themed parties and who doesn't love pj's, but like I said, I don't get out much.
At least I made it to at least 1AM, I think... I don't remember the last third of the night due to too many tequila shots followed by sourpuss chasers, and according to my husband I fell asleep on the couch cuddling my McDonald's apple pie.
So needless to say, it was a great night and thank goodness I took several videos and a ton of pictures to have proof of it all!!
Honestly though, I had so much fun, and although I'm not going to make a habit out of it, I definitely need to get out more... so why don't I? It's Monday as I write this, yesterday was a total write off, other than a great lunch date with a dear friend of mine, and my husband told me this morning that he can still smell the alcohol coming from my pours, YUP, he's still driving me around.
Don't you all find that as we get older, our recovery time takes days away from us? That's the main reason why I stay away from drinking as much as I do, but man do I have fun letting loose once in a while. I think that if I was a more casual drinker, I wouldn't be like a caged lioness when I did actually get out. LOL
There was about 25 of us, ranging in age from 24 to 60 ish ;) ... most everyone came in their pj's and slippers and every one of us did too many shooters throughout the night to what I remember.
What I do know for sure is that I'm not seasoned anymore... that, or I have an extremely low tolerance for alcohol. There was appys, games, party bags and dancing, and every single one of us had a great time.
We started off at a country bar at 6PM, yes, you heard me right, 6!... and I thought that was a great idea as I would still be able to get home at a decent time to finish watching "Grace and Frankie". Ya right! Did you read the part about me cuddling my apple pie?
After the country bar we went to...
Oh my gosh, I actually have to think about this for a minute... I honestly don't remember where we went next!! The bus picked us up at 7! How bad could I have been by then?... here, let me look through my pictures... got it!! We went to our old stomping grounds, The Hose and Hydrant, and now I remember my girlfriend saving me from falling down a very long flight of stairs.
Thank goodness she was there, and now I must message her to thank her for that! (we're going to take a quick break as I'm doing that right now)...done...OK, I'm back.
From there and every place after, there were shots, lots of laughter, too much sharing, and we, or maybe "I", got louder by the hour. I find that everyone is my friend and everyone needs advice when I start getting "happy", but in reality, NO ONE "NEEDS" my advice and I really don't have a filter at times. (insert the "slapping my face" emoji here) Some really appreciate it and some probably not-so-much, but they're too sweet to tell me...
Where are my Thursday Night Girlfriends when I need them? They'll certainly tell me what they think!
At the end of it all, I had a fantastic time, it's no secret that I will take any opportunity to have a girls night, there is still many more years to go in this body of mine, and 45 is definitely not too old to be pub crawling out with your friends!
So take shameless bathroom selfies, party a little too hard once-in-a-while, learn to laugh at yourself more, wear pj's out in public for no good reason at all, and having a tequila shot every now and then can be a good thing. ;)
