There is no need to have to introduce this woman and I can tell you from experience that both the book and the exercises that Mel Robbins shares with over millions of followers and viewers each and every week is pure gold!
We tend to think or ask ourselves, "how can 5 seconds change our life", or "how easy can this really be", or "that's not going to make that much of a difference", but I'm here to tell you that "YES IT DOES" and get over yourself. We are stuck on a hamster wheel most days and running on fumes, I get it, but I'm not talking about losing 20 pounds in a week, reading a book over the weekend or learning how to fly a plane. I'm talking about counting, a simple exercise that we're taught when we're two.
Just over a year and a half ago I realized that I've probably had a reading or learning disability for my entire life. I'd like to think of myself as being extremely capable and intelligent but I've been barely passing exams or being able to read a paragraph in one take for as long as i can remember, and because I love educating myself and learning, I started to buy audio books.
My first audio book was "Crush It" by Gary Vaynerchuk, then "Crushing It" and then of course "The 5 Second Rule" by Mel Robbins, (all of which I would highly encourage you to listen to or read), and that was the beginning of my new addiction of A, education, and B, books, I've always loved a great book but it took me forever to get through it.
I don't know about you but when I buy an audio book, it is really important to me that the author is the narrator as I resonate with the person first, and that draws me in to whatever it is that they are teaching or selling. Unfortunately that doesn't happen with them all but there are a number of incredible audio books our there that are narrated by the author, I feel it makes for an even better story or lesson.
I kind of have a thing about what certain books give me and inspire me to do and I generally buy all of my books about self development, business etc...so some I listen to in the morning getting ready and others I listen to at the gym, Gary V is a great audio when you're working out by the way! Mel is my morning inspiration while I'm getting ready for the day. I play her over Bluetooth, in the shower connected to my water proof speakers or on my phone while I'm brushing my teeth, there really is no excuse to not be able to get your books in now a days, and this is when I started to follow the 5 Second Rule.
It may seen simple enough to count backwards from 5 in order to get us to do absolutely anything, but if it was that easy then why weren't we all doing it to begin with, it's not like Mel invented the wheel here!
In actuality there really is a science behind it and I'm not going to get into it as she explains it all in her book. I promise that you won't be disappointed with the read as it's helped millions lose weight, have better relationships, quit smoking, start a business, the whole nine yards.
Motivated Spaces is all about sharing what has helped me over my hurdles, how I got started, or what tips and tricks I can pass on to help you become more organized, get healthier, find a better path or know that you're not alone in anything, so here is the link to Mel's "5 Second Journal" that she launched in 2019. You know that I'm all about making things easier, finding more time and simplifying anything and everything in our day to day lives...I hope you enjoy it!
Much Love
Joelle
